Brittain Ashford has been on my radar for two very specific reasons and those reasons are why I love her voice and why I was so happy to find solo works by this gifted young lady, her music and voice distinct, her lyrics powerful and her songs absolutely beautiful.
Brittain Ashford entered my world through a chance, blessed discovery by my 14 year old daughter in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, a brilliant Broadway musical by Dave Malloy that my daughter and I love. Ms. Ashford also developed and performed another Malloy masterpiece loved by my daughter and me in Ghost Quartet.
Ms.Ashford’s songs are perceivably unique, emotionally stirring and downright poetically perfect. She, quite simply, and quite deeply, delivers poignant truths in these dark and strange days through boldly anti-establishment altruism rather than preachy, argumentative pessimism and does so poetically in every way possible, from the peaceful melodies she plays to the melodic peace of her voice and meaningful words.
